The National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (ND CAMHS)
has recently been recruiting new members of staff, and deaf young people have been having their say in who was hired. Declan Brock-Spanton helped to choose a Consultant Psychiatrist (Doctor) to work in the team. Declan completed some interview training which included thinking about what type of person deaf young people would feel most comfortable to work with and writing some interview questions. Declan then met with the candidates to interview them. He was professional throughout and afterwards shared his views about the candidates he met and how he thought they might work with deaf young people. Declan played an important part in helping the ND CAMHS team choose the best person for the job, and we hope other deaf young people will be inspired by the work he has done.
